To assist the communities we serve, Hiilei Aloha, LLC and Alu Like, Inc. are collaborating to bring Business Planning for Non-Profits in Hilo. This FREE one day event will occur on March 4, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Seating is limited to 15 people. Registration forms need to be received before/on March 2, 2015.

NEW VOG STUDY “Vog Talk” Facebook group seeks participants
NEW VOG STUDY! Dr. Claire Horwell, from Durham University, UK is working with the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory in collaboration with KRHCAI, to find out how people protect themselves from the effects of vog. If you would like to share your knowledge and experiences, please join the ‘Vog Talk’ Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/421925067973152/ and tell her about what you do when it is voggy. She is looking at how the actions of the downwind communities relate to the official advice and is working with the relevant agencies to produce consistent, relevant advice which can be readily accessed.
UH announces 2015-2016 Scholarship applications available
The University of Hawaii System Common Scholarship Application is available online for the 2015-2016 academic year. It is one application that will consider students for scholarships specific to their home campus and scholarships that can be used throughout the University of Hawaii System. These scholarships will be applied to the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters. Students attending any one of the ten University of Hawaii campuses are encouraged to apply. (Please note that students who plan to attend UH Manoa would complete this application to be considered for system scholarships only.
UH Manoa students can also apply for their campus specific scholarships through STAR at the url below: www.star.hawaii.edu/scholarship).
The UH System Common Scholarship Application may be found online at the url below: www.hawaii.edu/finaid/scholarships/system.
The deadline to apply is March 2, 2015 by 4 p.m. HST. Students are able to view criteria and eligibility for scholarships, as well as deadlines and application checklists on this scholarship website.
In addition to applying for the UH System Common Scholarship Application, students are encouraged to apply for the 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA can be found online at www.fafsa.gov. The priority deadline to submit the FAFSA to your UH home campus is March 1, 2015.
