The Hawai‘i Health Connector

Aloha from Hawai‘i Island!
The Hawai‘i Health Connector Outreach Team is on Hawai‘i Island talking story about the health insurance exchange. The Team met with Hawaiʻi County Mayor Billy Kenoi to apprise him on the progress of the Connector.
Monday started off with an early morning presentation to the Workforce Development Board where Executive Director Coral Andrews introduced the Connector and answered some excellent questions.
Michael Gleason, a Connector Board member and Community Outreach Committee Chair, was the perfect host on day one. The day concluded with a visit to The Arc of Hilo, Keaʻau, Fern Forest, Hawaiian Beaches, Eden Roc, Pāhoa and Hawaiian Paradise Park, the second largest subdivision in the United States.
The Connector Outreach Team will be on Hawai‘i Island through Wednesday to meet with community health center directors and County Council members. The Team is also seeking out hard-to-reach populations to identify where outreach efforts will need increased focus. The outreach meetings aim to provide accurate, helpful information and build lasting relationships with community members.
The Connector Outreach Team is committed to introducing itself throughout the state by the end of the year. The Hawai‘i Island visit marks the second effort to establish a Connector presence state-wide, following Kaua‘i.
