Topic: ScreamFree Parenting
Trainer: Lisa Groulx, Executive Director of PARENTS, Inc.
(6 CEUs, as approved for social workers by NASW Hawaii)
1. Parenting is Not About Kids, It’s About Parents
2. Growing Up Is Hard To Do, Especially for Grown-Ups
3. If You’re Not Under Control, Then You Cannot Be In Charge
4. Let the Consequences Do the Screaming
Lisa Groulx, Executive Director of PARENTS, Inc., and a Certified ScreamFree Parenting Leader, will be speaking about using ScreamFree in the prevention of trauma. Teaching our parents to be ScreamFree is one of the best arsenals we have to ensure proper communication with our children so that if abuse or trauma occurs, a child will feel comfortable disclosing it immediately.
Lisa has been a Weinberg Fellow since 2011 and is involved in many child abuse and neglect prevention coalitions, including Hawai’i Children’s Trust Fund and the Child Abuse Prevention Planning Council through Prevent Child Abuse Hawai’i. She is also a Certified Master Trainer for the Fatherhood Development Curriculum through the National Partnership for Community Leadership. Lisa became the Executive Director of PARENTS, Inc. in 2008. She has two daughters, aged 14 and 9, and believes that prevention is truly the key to eradicating child abuse and neglect in our society.
